The New Richmond Bluegrass Festival was founded in 2003 and is organized by the Gaspesian British Heritage Village. The festival is organized and staffed entirely by volunteers and has earned the reputation of being one of Canada's best bluegrass music festivals.
In order to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience, the following rules and regulations are in effect during the festival:
• Alcoholic beverages purchased off site are not permitted outside of the camping area. Thank you for helping us respect our bar permit and contributing to the success of the festival.
• Unauthorized visitors are not allowed in the camping area. All visitors must register at the main entrance and purchase a visitor’s pass at a cost of $5. Visitor passes allow access to the camping area only.
• Drugs will not be tolerated. All infractions will be reported to the Quebec Police.
• Field Pickin' (jamming) is not only permitted, but encouraged. However, no amplifiers are allowed on site. If you do not wish to camp near a jam, please advise staff upon arrival and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
• Unauthorized collection of empty bottles/cans is not permitted.
• Domestic animals must remain in the camping area and should be on a leash at all times. They are not allowed in the staging area.
• Camp fires are not permitted. Use of Barbecues is restricted to the camping area.
• Use of generators is allowed from 7 AM until 11 PM.
• Bracelets must be worn and visible at all times.
• Access to buildings and trails is prohibited after 8 PM.
• Use of all terrain vehicles is strictly forbidden.
• Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
• The New Richmond Bluegrass Festival and the Gaspesian British Heritage Village are not
responsible for the theft, loss or damage to property and accidents.
• We reserve the right to refuse admission or to eject from the premises anyone who does not respect these or any other rules or acts in an indecent or improper manner. No readmission or reimbursement will be given. Rules will be applied without exception.

When can I arrive with my trailer or RV?
Early bird on site camping opens the Sunday prior to the festival and runs from 9 AM to 7 PM. If you plan on arriving outside of these hours please contact us at (418) 392-4487 and we will TRY to make arrangements. On site camping is FREE from Monday to Sunday with the purchase of a weekend pass.
What's the weather like in New Richmond? Please come prepared for any weather conditions. Generally, the days are sunny and mild to warm and the evenings are cool. Bring along a sweater and/or jacket. The show goes on rain or shine! Sunscreen is recommended and WATCH YOUR ALCOHOL consumption.
Can I bring my dog? Dogs are welcome in the camping area as long as they don’t bark and are kept on a leash. NO DOGS are admitted in the seating/staging area. Please plan ahead as days can be warm – never leave your pet unattended in a car.
Where can I park? Parking on site is at the bottom of the camping area approximately a 5 minute walk from the seating/stage area. and there is a free shuttle service during festival hours and until at least one hour after the end of the day's activities.
Is handicap parking available? Handicap parking is available at the festival with an authorized handicap sticker.
Where can I stay? On site camping is FREE with the purchase of a weekend pass and there are numerous lodging options are available in New Richmond and surrounding towns. For more information please visit the Lodging section of this web site.
Are there facilities at the on site camping?
The campground area is equipped with port-o-potties and we can supply fresh drinking water. No electrical or sewer services are available. However, there are several nearby full service campgrounds that you’ll find in the Lodging section of this web site.
What can I bring into the festival?
GLASS CONTAINERS and VIDEO CAMERAS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the festival grounds. You’re welcome to bring in your own food and soft drinks in appropriate containers. We serve beer and wine at the festival (don’t forget your ID!) and we have a wide assortment of vendors with reasonably priced YUMMY FOOD! There is NO SMOKING in the seating/stage area.
What is the seating like? Seating is all general admission lawn seating. We do supply hard chairs to those who wish them, but we suggest bringing your favourite camping or lawn chair. Umbrellas, shade tents and other view obstructing items are not allowed.
Can I tape the festival? Audiotaping the music at the festival is permitted. Recording devices must be self-contained (we do not
provide AC outlets or patches to the soundboard) and you may not obstruct the view of your fellow attendees with your equipment. There is no designated area for taping.
How much is admission for children? New lower prices for children in 2011. Youth 12 - 16 now pay only $3 per day or $9 for a weekend pass. Children 11 and under are admitted FREE. The New Richmond Bluegrass Festival is now even more family friendly!
